Dr. Hazel Keedle – Birthworker VBAC Workshop Perth

Vicki Hobbs from Back-to-Basics Birthing is proud to be hosting Dr Hazel Keedle with her VBAC Workshop for Birth Workers.

Dr Hazel Keedle is a Lecturer of Midwifery and completed her PhD in 2021 at Western Sydney University, Australia. Hazel has more than 25 years of experience as a clinician in nursing and midwifery, educator and researcher. Her research is recognised internationally and focusses on midwifery practice/education and women’s experience of maternity care. Hazel is passionate about improving support for women during pregnancy, birth and the early transition to mothering.

Supporting women planning a better birth after caesarean

In this workshop we will look at the role of the midwife or birth worker in supporting women plan their birth after caesarean. We will explore the importance of trauma informed approaches to debriefing previous birth experiences and the evidence surrounding birth after cesarean options. The workshop then uses the four factors from Hazel’s PhD findings to see how to support women plan the best birth after caesarean for them.

1. Debriefing and birth trauma – how to support women when reviewing their previous birth
2. What are the next birth after caesarean options and the evidence behind them
3. Supporting women plan for a better birth – Control / Confidence / Relationship / Active labour
