The Christmas Induction Poem
Christmas and New Years are looming
amid party-season cheer,
But none of that’s a reason
To induce your baby this year.
Your doc may look nervous,
Your midwife may sigh,
Because their turkey and trifle
Are getting very dry.
But hang on a second,
Let’s keep this on track,
Is there actual risk?
Or just a scheduling hack?
Because babies aren’t turkeys
You baste just for fun,
And you don’t take the bird out
Before it’s all done.
No fireworks, no ham,
No “I’m going away,”
Should dictate your baby’s birthday
Whether it’s night or it’s day.
If your body is healthy,
And your baby’s fine too,
Then induction for Christmas
Isn’t something you do.
So just smile sweetly,
And with a confident tone ask,
“Is this really necessary…
Or just your holiday task?”
Because Christmas and New Year,
Let’s make this real clear,
Are NOT valid reasons
To rush your baby out here.
It’s like picking fruit
Before it’s ripe to eat,
You can pull it from the branch,
But it won’t be full or sweet.
Nature sets the timing,
There’s no need to fear,
Babies ripen in their own time,
Not for special plans each year.
Let bub choose their moment,
Let nature align
Your birth isn’t planned
Around pudding and wine.
